New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh bowlers did not let Railways to take advantage of their modest first innings score and did well to restrict their rivals to 208 for eight on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League group B match here today.
Murali Kartik (18) and KS Parida (4) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn after the DP Vijaykumar and M Suresh bagged a couple of wickets each to tighten the screws on the Railways batsmen.
Resuming at their overnight score of eight for one, Railways were put on the backfoot immediately and was reduced to 16 for three as M Tamhane (6) Karan Sharma (5) departed very early in the day.
Sanjib Sanyal did pose some strong resistance against a probing line from Railways bowlers but he was unfortunate to be run out after a mix-up with wicket keeper Mahesh Rawat (18). Sanyal scored a patient 70 off 148 balls with the help of eight boundaries.
Andhra bowlers used the morning conditions to good effect and it was almost every bowler helped in the team's cause. D Kalyankrishna, HH Watekar and A Varma claimed a wicket each to create further inroads in the batting.
Considering that they were bowled out for a modest 208, Andhra did well to restrict the Railways' batsmen and the match looks to be heading for a result as the two matches played here at Feroz Shah Kotla so far ended in a draw.
