3 arrested for raping mentally retarded minor girl

Kolhapur, Nov 24 (UNI) Three persons were arrested for allegedly raping a mentally retarded minor girl here.

The girl hailing from Nagav village in Hatkanangale had left her house on November 15, following which her parents registered a missing complaint with the police, police sources said today.

According to police, when the girl was wandering in Laxmipuri area of the city, one of the accused Suresh Pawar (42) raped her after taking her to a nearby lodge under the pretext of getting her some food. Later he called his friend Ramesh Shetty (21), who also raped her. Then they left the girl and fled, police said.

The girl while wandering reached Kadolee town in Panhala tehsil, where the third accused raped her in Anandnagar area of the city and fled, police said.

Seeing the girl wandering alone some people informed about her to police, who took her to the police station, where she revealed about the incidents.

Police started their investigations on the details given by the girl and arrested all the three accused yesterday.
