There should be a code of conduct for the media: Manyata Dutt
New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) In constant media glare for her relationship with Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, his wife Manyata Dutt feels there should be a code of conduct for the media.
''The media always comes with a pre-set mind. They make you what they want. For example, they write good things about you if you talk to them nicely and are willing to give them sound bytes. Conversely, they will rip you apart if they don't like you,''Manyata said at the HT Leadership Summit here last evening.
She said like in several fields, there should be a code of conduct for the media as well.
''There are so many good people out there who are written off as villains by the media,''Manyata said.
Criticising the media for constantly speculating on the nature of her relationship with Sanjay Dutt, Manyata said,''wven when we were not married, the media were constantly speculating on our relationship, publishing stories of our marriage.'' Describing Sanjay Dutt's incarceration in the jail last year as a ''turbulent experience'' for her, Manyata said,''those were the days I would not like to remember. All of us were rather surprised by the six year sentence handed over to him by the court. What was worse, i could not even meet him for the last time before he was taken to jail as I was advised not to go to the court due to constant media speculation about our relationship.
Then,
when
I
went
to
meet
him
in
Arthur
road
jail,
they
would
not
allow
me
to
see
him.
I
had
to
wait
for
six
hours
and
was
them
allowed
to
meet
him
for
just
ten
minutes.
Even
then,
there
were
at
least
three
grills
between
us
when
we
met
and
it
being
quite
dark
out
there
I
could
see
nothing
and
had
to
ask
him
to
stand
in
the
light.''
