Suspected Malayali terrorist nabbed in AP
Hyderabad, Nov 23: A suspected Malayali terrorist, who has survived an attack by the security forces in Kashmir, has been arrested by the city police.
Police sources on said Sheik Abdul Jabbar (34), hailing from Tirur in Malappuram district, was nabbed from the residence of his relatives at Ismail nagar, Pahadi Shareef, in Cyberabad and produced before the Seventh Metropolitan Magistrate on Saturday, Nov 22 for transit remand.
On a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau, which has launched a nation-wide search, the special investigation team (SIT) of the city police, state counter-intelligence cell and special investigation squad of the Kerala police made the arrest.
Jabbar, who had married twice, had no connection with his family.
His arrest would be crucial in achieving a breakthrough in the investigation into the recruitment of youths for terrorist organisations operating in Kashmir.
It may be recalled that Mohammed Faizal of Kannur who had been arrested by the Kerala police had admitted to having taken two Malayali youths to join a militant organisation in Kashmir. He had also visited a seminary in Bandlaguda here, the sources added.
