Shillong, Nov 23 (UNI) The ruling Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA) government has caught into controversy again as it finds another legislator Adolf Lu Hitler Marak under a police scanner for having allegedly assaulting his Personal Security Officer (PSO).
Mr Hitler, an elected Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and MPA government Chief Whip has been accused of assaulting PSO S Lyngdoh at MLA Hostel on November 12, last, police said today.
'' The PSO was allegedly assaulted for returning late to the room of Hitler at the MLA Hostel here,'' police said, adding that the PSO later lodged an FIR against the government Chief Whip.
However, Mr Hitler could not be contacted to ascertain the allegation.
The controversy has further put Chief Minister Donkupar Roy in an awkward position at a time when police are investigating into three criminal cases against Mining and Geology minister Donkupar Massar.
Mr Massar has been accused of assaulting four labourers in Borsora in West Khasi Hills district and also the Pongtung village headman Wallambok Lyngdoh in East Khasi Hills district.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against Mr Hitler at Sadar Police station, who earlier this year was arrested by Meghalaya police on charges of criminal intimidation and violation of People's Representation Act.
Mr Hitler had also been arrested on June 27, 2003 for maintaining ''close-links'' with the outlawed A'chik National Volunteers Council after he failed to retain his Rangsakona Assembly seat to Zenith M Sangma of the Congress.
In the just concluded Assembly session, the chief minister assured the House that he would not allow his government to be ruled by muscle power.
'' We will not tolerate muscle power to rule the state and believe in the democracy,'' Dr Roy stated.
