Chandigarh, Nov 23 (UNI) Top seeded PV Sindhu of Andhra Pradesh staged a fine rally to overcome a stiff resistance from second seed Elsa Daya Jacob, also of Andhra Pradesh 14-21, 21-7, 21-15 in the girls' under-16 singles final of the Sunrise (India) All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament at here today.

With deep serve and good overhead smashes Elsa snatched the first game at 21-14. However, Sindhu bounced back into the game with vengeance and won the next twogames at 21-7 and 21-5 to clinch the title.

Later she partnered Manisha to defeat Gauri Ghote of Maharashtra and Elsa of Kerala 21-15,21-16 in the girls under-16 doubles final.

Third seed N V S Vijetha of Andhra Pradesh registered a hard-fought 16-21, 21-16, 23-21 verdict over Pratul Joshi of Madhya Pradesh to claim the under-16 boys' singles title. Pratul Joshi, however,had the consolation of winning the boys under-16 doubles title as in association with Sameer Verma of Madhya Pradesh, he beat Andhra Pradesh pair of Sreekant and Vishal Dev Reddy 21-16, 21-15 in the doubles final.

Principal secretary to the Haryana Chief Minister, M L Tayal, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes. He announced grant of Rs 5 lakh on behalf of the Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda,to the Chandigarh Badminton Association.

Results: (finals): Under-13 boys singles: Aesalan Naqvi (UP) bt Aditya Joshi (MP) 21-13, 21-13. Under-13 boys doubles: Chaitanya and Gagadhar V Rao (AP) bt Sanyam and Chirag Sen (UTR) 21-17, 21-16.

Under-13 girls singles: Rituparna Das (WB) bt G Shivani (AP) 21-15, 21-12. Under-13 girls doubles: Rituparna Das (WB) and E Shivani (AP) bt Vijetha and Pooja (AP) 21-7, 21-13. Under-16 boys singles: N V S Vijetha (AP) bt Pratul Joshi (MP) 16-21, 21-16, 23-21. Under-16 boys doubles: Pratul Joshi and Sameer Verma (MP) bt Sreekant and Vishal Dev Reddy (AP) 21-16, 21-15. Under-19 boys singles: Summet Reddy (AP) bt Sai Praneeth (AP) 13-21, 27-25, 23-21. Under-19 boys doubles: Sai Praneeth and Pranav Chopra (AP) bt Ajay Kumar and Nanda Gopal (AP) 21-6, 21-10. Mixed doubles: Pradnya Godre (Mah) and Pranav Chopra (AP) bt Vijetha (MP) and Akshit (Har) 21-11, 21-14.
