CPI leader criticises Centre for supplying arms to Lanka

Puducherry, Nov 23 (UNI) Tamil Nadu CPI Secretary Tha Pandiyan has strongly criticised the Centre for supplying arms to the Sri Lankan army.

Speaking at a symposium on ''Ceasefire in Sri Lanka,'' organsied by the Puducherry Kalai Ilakkiya Peravai here last night, he said Tamils from Sri Lanka were contacting him daily over phone and informing him that the tanks manufactured at the defence unit in Avadi, were being used by the Sri Lankan army.

This act of the Centre need to be condemned, he added.

He alleged that Tamil Nadu Ministers had so far not helped the Sri Lankan Tamils.

Film director Bharathiraja and R K Selvamani and Puducherry Legislators R Viswanathan and Na Ra Kalainathan, participated in the symposium.
