UPA allocating more funds to Health Ministry
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 22 (UNI) The Centre has allotted a sum of Rs 14,534 crore to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry during the current year, as against the previous NDA Government's annual allocation of only Rs 6,983 crore, Union Minister of Shipping and National Highways T R Baalu said today.
Participating in a function here, he said there were 10 lakh pharmacists in the country. In addition to this, about 25,000 pharmacists were passing out every year.
He wanted the pharmacists to play a crucial role in providing health care to the needy by creating an awareness among common people as well as patients about the importance of taking medicines in time, the prescribed quantity and method of consuming the medicines.
