Science Centre planned in Shimoga
Shimoga, Nov 22 (UNI) Karnataka Electricity Minister K S Ishwarappa said today that the state government proposed to set up a science centre here.
Inaugurating a three-day children's science convention, he said four acres of land and Rs one crore had alreay been allotted for the centre to be built at a cost of Rs six crore.
Mr Ishwarappa said the Union Government would be providing Rs one crore for the centre which would have a planetarium, a laboratory and other instruments.
He promised all support from the government for the development of science in the state.
State Planning Commission vice-chairman D H Shankaramurthy and Pontiff Prasannanatha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt of Shimoga were also present.
About 2,500 students from 33 educational districts are participating in the convention and 317 science projects are on display at the venue.
