Chennai, Nov 22 (UNI) Well-known political analyst and journalist Cho S Ramaswamy today called on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence here.
The meeting assumed significance as it came close on the heels of the meeting senior CPI leaders had with Ms Jayalalithaa regarding the alliance for the coming Lok Sabha elections.
A CPI delegation, led by party General secretary A B Bardhan, met Ms Jayalalithaa a few days ago and almost firmed up the alliance with the AIADMK.
It remained to be seen whether the CPI(M), which had differences with the AIADMK on certain issues, especially Ms Jayalalithaa's stand on the Sethusamudram issue, the Indo-US Nuclear deal and the 'Hindutwa' issue, would toe the line of the CPI.
The Left parties had walked out of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in Tamil Nadu, stating that they could not co-exist with the Congress in the Front, after the UPA government at the Centre signed the nuclear deal.
The CPI(M) is likely to take a decision on the alliance with the AIADMK in its politbureau meeting, scheduled to be beld in New Delhi by the end of this month.
