Opposition stages protest demanding govt's dismissal
Guwahati, Nov 22 (UNI) Assam's Opposition parties today staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here, demanding the dismissal of the Congress-led state government.
The Opposition parties blamed the state government for the recent serial blasts and communal clashes in northern Assam.
It alleged that fundamentalist organizations were gaining ground in the state due to the patronage from the government and it was now emerging as a threat to the internal security of the country.
The Opposition demanded that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi should render resignation, owning responsibility for the state's alleged abysmal law and order situation.
State's main Opposition parties Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), BJP state unit, Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) and Bodoland People's Progressive Front (BPPF), among others, participated in the demonstration.
