MCOCA against Malegaon blast accused to get political mileage:BJP
Ranchi, Nov 22 (UNI) The BJP today charged the Union and Maharashtra governments with indulging in ''appeasement politics'' by enforcing Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the 11 accused of Malegaon blast case.
'' The UPA wants to appease a section of people and take benefit in the coming elections, '' Mr Samar Singh, state president of party's doctors' cell, here said.
The government implemented MCOCA when it faced criticism from different sections, Mr Singh said adding the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) was acting as ''puppet'' of the Centrel government in this particular case.
He said activities of the ATS had also raised question over the functioning of such investigating teams.
On November 20, the ATS applied MCOCA on the 11 accused, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit and ex-Armyman Ramesh Upadhyay.
