Latin America, Arunachal can benefit from mutual cooperation

Itanagar, Nov 22 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh and the countries of Latin America have lot of similarities which could be promoted for mutual benefit, according to three ambassadors from Latin America, who arrived here to access investment opportunities in the state.

Milena Ramirez, Ambassador of Bolivian Republic of Venezuela, Genaro Vicento Pappalardo of Paraguay and Carlos Abad of Equador, during a meeting here yesterday, dwelt at length on areas of cooperation, including agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, cultural integration among tribal people of respective countries, besides tourism.

Milena Ramirez termed the indigenous tribal population as an asset rather than a liability which needed to be developed and integrated and hoped that cultural exchanges and exposure through the media would help the people of Latin America and India to know more about each other.

Calos Abad, through a power point presentation, highlighted the varied areas of tourism, flora and fauna that his country has to offer to the world. He sought better connectivity to bridge the distances between the countries so that the people of Latin America and India could promote tourism and cultural exchanges on a greater scale.

Stating that the scope for enhancing trade and business relations between the two countries was immense, all the ambassadors agreed that the respective governments have to find avenues for mutual cooperation in different areas considering the community existing between their people.

The Ambassador of Paraguay Pappalardo said he was highly impressed by the deep-rooted traditions of the people of Arunachal, adding the six million population of Paraguay were as peace loving as Arunachalees.

''The Bolivian republic of Venezuela aims to improve the quality of life of the people as a whole, while giving equal protection to the indigenous populace as guaranteed under the constitution,'' Ms Ramirez said.

She also stressed the need for all Latin American countries to remain united for presenting before the world a singular model for togetherness.

''We are determined to fight together to overcome each other's problems,'' she asserted.
