Lalu ''adulating'' Sonia by comparing Rahul with Mahatma
Patna, Nov 22 (UNI) The JD(U) today termed the comparison of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi by RJD supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad as ''height of sycophancy''.
National spokesman of the party Shivanand Tiwary said it reminded the statement of senior Congress leader Devkant Barua, who used to say, ''Indira is India, India is Indira''.
Such utterance of Mr Barua had vexed the great socialist leader, Jai Prakash Narain, so much that he had termed him as a ''sycophant'' engaged in extreme glorification of a ruler for personal gain, he added.
Mr Tiwary said the Railway Minister had crossed all limits to ''appease'' the Congress president and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi by comparing Mr Rahul with the Father of the Nation.
'' Such observation must have moved the soul of great socialist leader Jai Prakash Narain, who had blessed Mr Prasad during the movement launched against the failure of then Congress government at the Centre, '' he added.
