Doctors strike at SSL hospital continues for the third day

Varanasi, Nov 22 (UNI) The indefinite strike by resident doctors of Sir Sunder Lal hospital of Baneras Hindu University continued for the third day today, crippling healthcare services.

Patients coming from far off places for surgery were the worst sufferers and majority of the patients were shifting to other hospitals for treatment. There was a fifty per cent decline in the arrival of patients.

The doctors are demanding adequate security and arrest of the students involved in the incident of violence on November 19.

Meanwhile, the students associated with various student unions at a meeting, have decided to launch a movement against the university administration and police action on students.

The students took out a protest march from Ravidas gate in Lanka area to BHU main gate today, demanding compensation to the kin of the student who died during treatment following the alleged negligence of the doctors. The also demanded action against the doctors and administrative officials for lathicharge on the students.
