Court extends remand of two passport scam accused cops

Moga, Nov 22 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand of one of the cops accused in the passport scandal while another was sent into judicial remand.

The accused head constable Ranjit Singh and constable Jaswinder Pal Singh were produced in the court of Judicial magistrate Kewal Krishan late last evening on the expiry of their two-day police remand.

The Duty Magistrate extended police remand of Jaswinder Pal Singh for three days whereas Ranjit Singh was sent to 14-day judicial remand.

Official police told the court that a raid conducted yesterday at the houses of the accused had yielded a large number of fake and forged documents including school leaving certificates and forged and tampered police enquiry reports.

Police also recovered number of stamps of District Transport officer and Food and Supplies department officials being used by the cops for preparing fake certificates and ration cards.

The Inviestigation team was also on a look out for some senior functionaries of Regional passports offices including a woman Usha Rani of Dureke village, sources said.
