Puducherry, Nov 21 (UNI) Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge D Krishna Raja today posted to December 18, further hearing in the Sankararaman murder case in which, the seers of Kanchi mutt Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi are the prime accused.

When the case came up for hearing, the 24 accused, including the seers, failed to turn up before the court. The respective counsels filed seperate petitions citing the reasons for their absence.

Special public prosecutor N Devadass pleased for the fixation of the early date to commence the trial in the case, following which the judge asked whether he wanted the charges to be framed against all under Section 120 b.

Mr Dinakaran, the counsel for Jayendra Saraswathi said the court had already filed charges under CRPC and there were no other sections to alter them.

When the judge suggested framing of charges on December 18, the prosecution as well as the Defence agreed.

Later, Mr Dinakaran told newspersons that for alteration of charges, all the accused must be present in the court on that day and they must be questioned again.

The trial in the case was likely to commence only in January next year, he said.
