Mild snowfall in higher reaches of HP, Amritsar coldest in plains
Chandigarh, Nov 21 (UNI) Night temperatures in Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh further fell, with Amritsar turning out to be the coldest place in the plains while higher reaches of tribal districts of Himachal Pradesh experienced a mild snowfall.
In Punjab, Amritsar was coldest with 6.0 degrees Celsius as against yesterday's 11.9 degrees. The holy city was followed by Ludhiana with 8.6 degrees, Patiala 8.9 against yesterday's 13.1 degrees.
In Haryana, Ambala was the coldest place at 9.5 degrees against yesterday's 11.9 degrees while the minimum at Hisar was 11.9 degrees and at Karnal it was 10.4 degrees.
The minimum in the Union Territory of Chandigarh hovered around 10.2 degrees Celsius.
In Himachal, Rohtang Pass experienced 10 cm snowfall and Dundi of Kullu district received 2 cm snow. Kalpa of Kinnuar district had 0.3 cm snow, Keylong in Lahual and Spiti received traces.
Kalpa was the coldest place with night temperature at minus 5.5 degrees Celsius followed by Keylong minus 4.9, Manali minus 1.4, Bhuntar 1.5, Sundernagar 2.0, Dharamshala 5.5, Nahan 10.8, Shimla 3.3 and Una 4.7 degrees Celsius.
Tribal area of Mandi district, Gohar received 24 mm rainfall in last 24 hrs followed by Kot-Khai 14 mm rainfall, Bhuntar 7.4 mm, Rampur 4 mm, Sundernagar 3 mm and Shimla 1.6 mm.
The Met office has forecast mainly clear sky for next 24 hrs.
