Human capital strength of country: VC
Puducherry, Nov 21 (UNI) Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University J A K Tareen today said the human capital was strength of the country and whatever might be the fluctuations of financial capital it was the human capital that sustained the country through all ups and downs of the new dynamics of the global economic order.
Speaking at the third University-Industry Council Symposium organised by the Pondicherry University and CII here, Prof Tareen said the time had come for both the University and industry to jointly explore each other's potential and areas of partnership.
This would be of help to find solutions to alleviate the probelms and generate a wealth of intellectual human capital.
He said the country had hardly achieved ten per cent gross enrollment ratio against the world average of 23 per cent in higher education and the 11th plan target of adding 15 per cent increase in the gross enrollment ratio had generated several questions.
He said there should be 50 percent increase in the access to higher education and research activites through higher educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Aravind Sitaram, Vice-President and MD of CISCO development organisation said the country needed entrepreneurs who could transform it into a nation which produce and inventors who could make the country self-reliant in science and technology.
He also launched the University-Industry Council portal on the occasion.
Mr P K Mohapatra, immediate past-Chairman, CII southern region speaking on the occasion said higher educational institutions should work hand-in-hand to create resources.
