HP demands more funds for plantation
Shimla, Nov 21 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government has urged the Centre to provide more financial support to the state in the forestry sector considering its strategic location from environment point of view and limited resources.
Himachal Pradesh Forest Minister JP Nadda yesterday called on Union Minister of State for Forest and Wildlife S Raghupati at New Delhi and apprised him of the difficulties being faced by the state in carrying out the approved compensatory afforestation schemes due to non-release of funds to the tune of Rs 209 crore, already deposited by the State for the purpose with the Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) under the Central Government.
The Union Minister informed Mr Nadda that release of CAMPA fund would depend on the enactment of CAMPA Bill, which is under consideration before the Parliament.
