London, November 21 : Hollywood filmmaker Guy Ritchie "thanked God" the very moment last night when he came to know that his divorce with pop queen Madonna would be officially announced today.
He was spotted celebrating with a quiet pint on the set of his new film Sherlock Holmes, after being told about the quickie hearing in London.
"He didn't make a big song and dance about it but he raised his glass to the fact that it is all finally settled," the Mirror quoted a source as saying.
"He has never been interested in Madonna's cash. In fact, he turned down a 10million offer from her because he just wanted to get it sorted swiftly. The only sticking point was the children," said another source.
The film director, who will not be getting anything out of the Material Girl's 300million-pound fortune, insisted that his only concern was the children.
"It dragged on much too long. It was never ever about money," the Mirror quoted him as saying.
According to Guy's pals, Madonna had offered him 10million pounds, but he turned it down flat.
"It was never about money - never about her bloody art collection. I just wanted to settle it and move on," Guy said.
"I didn't raise any objections at any stage until she insisted the children lived permanently in New York," he added.
The couple will be granted a "quickie" decree nisi in Court 10 of the Principal Registry of the High Court's family division.
