Dy ECs review poll arrangements in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 21 (UNI) A high-level meeting presided over by two Deputy Election Commissioners (DECs) today reviewed the poll arrangements in Kangan and high profile Ganderbal Assembly constituencies going to poll on Sunday in the second of seven-phase Jammu and Kashmir elections.
Official sources said DEC R Bhattacharya and R Bala Krishnan, who arrived here yesterday, presided over a high-level officers meeting at Ganderbal today.
The meeting was also attended by state Chief Electoral Officer, B R Sharma, Election Observers, Division Commissioner Kashmir, IGP Kashmir, DIG central Kashmir range and Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal.
Besides Omar Abdullah, there are 11 other candidates seeking mandate from the seat.
The team also held similar meeting at Kangan in the afternoon.
There are 582 migrant voters in Kangan constituency and 738 in Ganderbal.
Regarding the status of polling stations, the meeting was told that 24 polling stations have been declared as sensitive and 57 hypersensitive in Kangan while 28 sensitive and 69 hypersensitive polling stations are in Ganderbal constituency.
The meeting was told that all polling stations have been verified by Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers.
As many as 18 Auxiliary polling stations have been created in each constituency and all the polling stations have been set up at ground floor.
