Doctors' strike at SSL hospital continues for second day
Varanasi, Nov 21 (UNI) The medical and healthcare services at Sir Sunder Lal hospital of the Banaras Hindu University remained paralysed on the second day today, following an indefinite strike by junior doctors.
The out-patient department and the emergency services were the worst hit due to the strike and majority of the patients had already shifted to other hospitals.
The junior resident doctors of the hospital had gone on an indefinite strike on the night of November 19 to protest the alleged manhandling of doctors and ransacking of the medicine ward by the varsity students, following the death of their fellow-mate.
The agitating medicos are demanding security by the university administration. Heavy force has already been deployed on the campus of the hospital.
Sir Sunder Lal hospital is one of the biggest hospital of eastern UP and equipped with all the latest facilities. A large number of patients from eastern UP, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh come here for treatment.
