Hyderabad, Nov 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today inaugurated the government-owned ornamental fish display acquarium to promote their sales in the state.
Later, Andhra Pradesh Minsiter for fisheries Mandali Budda Prasad said this was the first time in the state the department had established such an acquarium. The state government was also planning to establish more such acquariums in the state with Public Private Partnership (PPP).
He said every month, there was a 15 per cent growth in the sales of ornamental fish in the market.
He said the fisheries department had taken several measures for the welfare of fishermen community in the state. With a view to help the community, the govenment was giving small tanks to fishermen cooperative societies in every village for lease at nominal rates.
