80 lakh candidates apply for teachers' posts in Bihar
Patna, Nov 21 (UNI) More than 80 lakh aspirants have applied for 93,000 posts of school teachers under various categories, from primary to higher secondary level, sending authorities into a tizzy over facing the upheaval of processing the huge number of applications.
Principal secretary of the state Human Resourses department Anjani Kumar Singh today said most of the applications had been received from trained candidates and there was least possiblity of untrained aspirants being selected as teachers.
''A record number of 80 lakh applications for the 93,000 posts of teachers of primary, secondary and higher secondary levels have been received,'' Mr Singh said, adding officers were facing Herculean task of processing them.
''I had called a review meeting to discuss for evolving a mechanism to accelerate the processing of applications as the final merit list is to be displayed by December 1,'' he said, adding the list would be prepared on the basis of marks obtained at various levels of academic career of the aspirants.
''Present drive for recruitment of teachers is the second one while 12 lakh candidates had applied for 80,000 posts of teachers in the first phase of recruitment,'' Mr Singh revealed.
