Melbourne, Nov 20 : A cat in Perth has given birth to a kitten that has two faces, and can meow out of both mouths at the same time.
The kitten, which had to be delivered in a vet's surgery after its mother had complications with the birth, was one of three in a litter. It is currently doing well.
The kitten was delivered by veterinarian George Huber and nurse Louisa Burgess, who said that she had never seen a two-faced cat in her 12-year career.
"I have seen cats with two tails and extra legs, but not this," News.com.au quoted her as saying. The little kitten does not have a name yet, but its owner is thinking of calling it Quasi Modo, according to local news website inmycommunity.com.au.
The kitten is said to be able to eat out of just one mouth because of a cleft palette, though it meows out of both simultaneously.
This is not the first time that a kitten with two faces has been born, as there have been several reports in the US, where in August a kitten with four eyes, two noses and one mouth was reportedly born in Ohio, but died after five days.
