New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Rebuffing Opposition BJP's allegations about her government's no show in Delhi, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said it was only under her Government that Delhi had seen all-round development, especially with regard to women, transport sector and social welfare.
''The kind of development that has taken place in the past ten years of Congress tenure is there for everyone to see,'' she said, referring to the number of flyovers, foot-over bridges, the increasing network of Metro rail and the appreciable improvement in Government schools' results.
Addressing largely attended public meetings in her own constituency of New Delhi and later Tri Nagar and Rithala constituencies, Ms Dikshit asserted that it was only her party which cares for each and every section of the society irrespective of caste or community considerations.
Pointing to the "Ladli" scheme, she said, it was the only of its kind in the country where every girl with annual family income of up to rupees one lakh will get rupees one lakh after entering class XII and so far more than 1.30 lakh girls have already been registered under the scheme.
The scheme will help to curb the horrendous practice of female foeticide and infanticide, she said and added that this has also reduced the drop out rate of girls apart from increasing their enrolment in schools.
Talking about the "Stree-shakti" programme, Ms Dikshit said about four lakh women have already been benefitted through 47 gender resource centers while another 40 are in the pipeline.
The pension amount to widows, physically handicapped and senior citizens is the highest in Delhi compared to elsewhere in the country.
Congress candidates from Tri Nagar and Ritahla assembly segments, Anil Bhardwaj and Shambhu Dayal Sharma respectively besides, local party office bearers and workers were also present at these meetings.
