Bangalore, Nov 20 (UNI) Karnataka Housing Minister Krishnaiah Shetty today said the state government has sanctioned Rs 800 crore for construction of two lakh houses this year under "Ashray" housing scheme.
Mr Shetty told reporters here that the houses under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation or Ashray, would be ready by March next year.
So far, the government had completed more than 15 lakh houses beginning from 2000 and out of this, 13 lakh houses were built in rural areas, he said.
The process of selection of beneficiaries at panchayat level by Gram Sabhas would begin from December 15 and conclude on January 15, he added.
