Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) As many as 37.04 lakh metric tonne of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana during the current Kharif season so far.
A spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that out of the total paddy arrival, about 17.89 lakh metric tonne had been procured by government agencies at the minimum support price.
The remaining about 19.15 lakh metric tonne of paddy had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which included 3.26 lakh metric tonne leviable and 15.88 lakh metric tonne non leviable paddy.
While enumerating the details of procurement of the paddy in the mandis, he said that Hafed had procured 7.56 lakh metric tonne of paddy, Food and Supplies Department had procured 5.32 lakh metric tonne, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 1.82 lakh tonne, HWC 67,687 tonne, FCI 9,435 tonne and Confed had purchased 2.39 lakh tonne of paddy.
He said that district Kurukshetra was leading with the arrival of 7.09 lakh metric tonne followed by Karnal 6.31 lakh metric tonne, Fatehabad 4.36 lakh metric tonne and Kaithal 4.12 lakh metric tonne.
