Lustig sents top seed Satschko packing in IFT Futures tourney

Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) In the biggest upset of the tourney, seventh seed Daniel Lustig of Czech Republic sent the top seed German A Satschko packing in straight sets at 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6) to enter the the semifinals of the 15,000 dollars Futures tournament at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association court here today.

Also pulling of a big upset was the eighth seed S Abdukhalikov of Kazhakistan handing a thrashing to the third seed David Savic of Serbia winning in 6-1, 6-2.

Daniel Lustig and A Satschko both played aggressive tennis with the match going neck to neck to force a tie-breaker in the first set. Daniel played the big points well in the tie-breaker to pocket the first set at 7-6 (5). The second set saw a repetition of the first with the set needing a tie-breaker which again went in favour of Lustig for him to complete a memorable victory.

Third seed David Savic was totally of colour today, maybe the heat of Mumbai getting to him as he handed the match to the Kazhak player with his game littered with unforced error as Abdukhalikov thrashed him for the loss of only three games at 6-1, 6-2 to book his semifinal berth.

Second seed N Thompson of USA brought some order back as he easily beat David Sodek of the Czech Republic 9n straight sets at 7-6 (1), 6-2 to book his semifinal berth.

Also reaching the semifinals was Primin Haenle of Germany who beat Vaja Ulakov of Uzbekistan in straight sets at 6-4, 6-4.
