Ahmedabad, Nov 20 (UNI) Indigo airlines, a low fare domestic airline, today announced the expansion plan of its existing network with addition of new flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Jaipur, effective from December one.
Addressing reporters here today, Indigo, President, Aditya Ghosh, said ''looking to the tremendous passenger support, we are getting from this western city we decided to introduce more flights on the route to provide additional ways for our Ahmedabad customers to travel across our route network''.
Ghosh said that with its brand new Airbus A320, the airline offers over 120 daily flights connecting 17 destinations which included Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi,Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbia, Nagpur, Pune and Vadodara.
When asked about the crisis being faced by many airlines due to various factors, he said ''we have not cut the salaries nor laid off people, retrenched people or sent people on leave without pay''.
''Being the youngest players in this sector our fleet has growing rapidly so we do not have to take any drastic steps to retrench staff strength'', he said adding that in fact they were actually hiring people in various departments across the country.
At present, the airline has about 18 aircraft in operation and one more is joining next month.
From December one, the airlines will operate two daily flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and one daily flight to Hyderabad and Chennai Via Mumbai. Other two flights, will be operated from here, with one flight each to Jaipur and Delhi.
