New Delhi, Nov 20: Two of the three rallies of BSP supremo Mayawati, which were to be held in the national capital in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, were cancelled as the Delhi Development Authority refused permission.

The cancelled rallies were to be held at Trilokpuri and Jalebi Chowk in Sultanpuri on November 23 and November 26 respectively, party sources said. They said as the rallies were to be staged in DDA parks in both places, permission was sought from the Authority, which was denied.

They rued the fact that at the eleventh hour permission had been denied whereas Congress President Sonia Gandhi's rally on that day had been given the go-ahead, adding the Congress Government in the national capital was developing 'cold feet' due to the growing clout of the BSP.

The third rally, as scheduled, will be held at Aligaon on Nov 24.

The BSP has fielded its candidates in all 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly, polls to which will take place on November 29.

Counting of votes will be taken up on December 8.
