Chapel attacked by miscreants in K'taka
Mangalore, Nov 20 (UNI) Two months after a series of attacks on places of worship belonging to minorities in Karnataka, a fresh incident of pelting of stones on a chapel by miscreants was reported near here today.
Police said a chapel at Bajpe Antonikatte, on the outskirts of the city was found vandalised this morning.
Some miscreants pelted stones at the grotto (post) of St Antony Chapel located on the roadside, breaking its glass covering and inflicting minor damage to the lower portion of a statue of St Antony.
The chapel was shifted to its present location about a year ago, to facilitate airport expansion. People used to offer flowers to the grotto. Today they noticed the damage in the morning and reported it to the police.
They also informed the priests in the Chapel.
Police visited the spot and verified the damage. Night patrolling of the area had been ordered, police added.
