Moga, Nov 20 (UNI) Farmers of Punjab would march to Delhi if the Centre would not concede to their demands, including withdrawal of tax on Basmati Rice 1121 which is Rs 8,000 per tonne.
This was stated by Mr Bhupinder Singh Mahesari, press secretary, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) after the district-level meeting of the BKU here today.
The BKU also demanded immediate release of sugarcane arrears of Rs 37 crore, MSP of wheat at Rs 1580 per quintal as per price index and Rs 4000 per quintal of oilseeds, immediate release of Rs 50 per quintal paddy bonus.
The farmers also urged the Centre to announce MSP of wheat as per the recommendations of Agriculture Price Commission and MSP of paddy at Rs 1050 per quintal and payment of arrears of Rs 130 per quintal to the farmers.
The Union demanded from the Central government to reduce the diesel and petroleum product prices in view of reduction in prices at global market.
Mr Mahesari told mediapersons that national executive of BKU under the chairmanship of national president Mohinder Singh Tikait would be meeting tomorrow at New Delhi to take up the issues of the farmers.
