AMWJU urges government to set up inquiry into scribe murder
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) today demanded setting up of a judicial inquiry into gruesome murder of a young journalist in Imphal West.
Konsam Rishikanta Singh was killed on November 17 while he was working for an English daily at Langol in Imphal West.
The AMWJU memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said that Rishikanta Singh is the fifth journalist who was gunned down by unknown persons in the past few years in Manipur.
The state government has so far failed to either identify or book the perpetrators of the crime.
The AMWJU at a meeting held on November 18 has decided to stop all publications from today if the state government failed to name and arrest the culprits.
