Youth Congress enrolls 60 Lakh members
Jaipur, Nov 19 (UNI) The membership in the Youth Congress has crossed the mark of 60 lakh even as this Congress youth wing geared up for a greater role in the Indian politics under the leadership of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, AICC Secretary Bhanwar Jitendra said.
Talking to reporters here today Mr Jitendra and YC President Ashok Tanwar said the membership drive launched throughout the country has achieved grand success as large number of enthusiastic youths had enrolled themselves with the organisation.
The drive was part of the ongoing process of its organisational elections, they said.
Mr Jitendra and Mr Tanwar expressed satisfaction over due allotment of tickets to youths in the ensuing Assembly elections in some states.
Over 75 candidates of below 40 years age had been given tickets in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan alone. Fairly good number of youths had also been fielded by the party in the Assembly elections in Delhi, Chhattisgarh too, they said. They came here to address a youth Congress meet.
They said youth Congress would play an important role in campaigning for the party nominees in the elections.
