Rs 7 lakh worth corals seized in Bangalore
Bengaluru, Nov 19: Two persons indulging in illegal trade of corals and rare birds were arrested by the City Railway Police on Tuesday, Nov 18. Corals worth Rs 7 lakh and three ringnecked parakeets valued at Rs 90,000 were seized from them.
Railway police were alerted by a suspicious-looking parcel addressed to one Rafiq Ahmed of Lakshar Mohalla in Mysore, which was sent by one Devdutt of Bangalore. Upon investigation, 5 kg of sea corals worth Rs 4 lakh was recovered from the parcel.
City Railway Police SP H S Revanna said "On Tuesday morning Rafiq was arrested in Mysore and brought to the city. Devdutt was arrested from his residence in Domlur. During the raid on Devdutt"s house, we recovered 4 kg of corals worth Rs 3 lakh and three ring-necked parakeets. Investigations are on."
