Prakash Amritraj crashes out of Knoxville Challenger

Knoxville, US, Nov 19 (UNI) It was a bad day for Indian Davis Cupper Prakash Amritraj as he lost his first round singles and doubles matches in the 50,000 dollar ATP Challenger series here.

However, In another doubles match, the Indian pair of Harsh Mankad and Ashutosh Singh registered a hard fought 7-6 (5) 7-6(4) win over Luka Gregorc of Slovakia and Fritz Wolmarans of South Africa.

The Indian duo will take on top seed American pair of Bobby Reynolds and Rajeev Ram in the quarter-final.

In the singles, Prakash started promisingly winning the first set against Australian wild card John Partick Smith but after that lost his concentration and grip over the procedings as the Australian fought back to emerge 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 winner.

In the doubles, Prakash and his brother Stephen lost 3-6, 6-7 (2) to French pair of Olivuier Charroin and Nicolas Tourte.
