Party workers told to complete enrolment by Dec
Puducherry,Nov 19 (UNI)Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee President A V Subramanian today urged the party workers to ensure that the process of enrolment of new members was complated before December in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at a function organsied at the PCC office to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Mr Subramanian paid rich tributes to her and said that it was she who shouldered the party and kept it intact at the time of tribulations to the party.
At the time of enrolment, party workers should ensure that about 1,000 members were enroled from a place and not to enrol five or ten from the same family to fill up the application forms,he said and advised them to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women and collect subscription of Rs Three from the new members up to 2010, and issue them with identity cards.
Mr Subramanian, who announced that there will be changes in the list of the new office-bearers said the permission of the AICC was sought to start six new wings of the party here.
Meanwhile,former PCC President P Shanmugham paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of Indira Gandhi at his residence here.
The event turned to be a big one with supporters of former Chief Minister N Rangasamy making a beeline to his house on the occasion.
