Mumbai rave party: 109 tested narco-positive
{image-Juhu rave party_19112008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Mumbai, Nov 19: Over 109 people out of 231 caught in a suburban night club in a raid have tested positive for narcotics, a senior police official said on Wednesday, Nov 19. 'Bombay 72 Degree East' in Juhu, Mumbai on October 5 have tested positive for drug consumption.
The police busted an on-going rave party and detained 231 people for consumption of drugs. Eight peddlers were also arrested. "We have reports that 109 have been tested positive. We will arrest them and take them to court. They may face punishment up to 6 months. But there is immunity for those willing to undergo de-addiction." Vishwas Nagre, DCP-Mumbai said.
The police said it would initiate legal proceedings against those tested positive. Just a little over six months back in March 2008, 271 partygoers were detained at a rave party raid in Pune. A large quantity of drugs was seized from the party including marijuana and hashish. Those detained were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days and were later released.
