New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) Lamenting the decline of hockey in the country, double Olympic gold medallist Commander Nandi Singh today said Indian Hockey needs to evolve to keep up with the rest of the world.

Talking to UNI on the sidelines of a function, Nandi said, ''hockey has changed a lot. It was 5-3-2-1 in our time. If we do not change, we will continue to lag behind.'' Nandi, who was a member of the first hockey team of independent India who won gold at the London Olympics in 1948, expressed a desire to see Indian Hockey regain the pinnacle of glory in his lifetime.

Quoting African American rights activist Martin Luther King, he said,''I have a dream. I have a dream to see Indian Hockey ruling the world once again.'' He appealed to the media to give more and more publicity to hockey and ensure that the national game recaptures its popularity among the masses.

''The media should write about hockey. They have the power to influence opinion among the masses. They have the power to influence those who matter in the government and influence policy change,'' he stated.
