Ghanaian Ismail Addo keen to don East Bengal colours

By Staff

Kolkata, Nov 19 (UNI) East Bengal today left for Ludhiana to face JCT in the 9th round of the Indian League on November 22 leaving behind new comer ismail addo.

The 26-year-old Ghanaian striker, who arrived here yesterday for trial, is expected to don the club colour's from round 10th onwards if club officials are satisfied with his skill and technique. The wages have more or less been decided, EB sources here said.

Addo claimed in his profile to have played for the country at the under-18 level, besides big clubs of Israel and Greece.

EB's assistant coach Mridul Banerjee said Addo was given a day's rest and his trial will begin tomorrow.

EB are in 4th place after 8th round with 12 points behind Sporting Clube de Goa, Air India and Churchill Brothers. The club has big teams to play, besides JCT, Dempo and Churchill to complete the first leg of the 12-team championship. The Dempo match is in Margao and if the Ghanaian's papers are ready by then Addo could be seen in action, club sources said.

Addo said he was keen to don the EB jersey as his friend Suleh Musha has high esteem for the club he has been playing for many years.

Coach Stanley Rozario had said he would be happy to have a third foreign player within the first leg of IL.

Brazilian Marques Edmilson has been out of play due to Hepatitis B for long and the need for a striker of his calibre was badly needed for the team.
