Coop institutions to disburse Rs 4000 crore as farm loans: Minister
Udupi, Nov 19(UNI) The Karnataka Government has targeted to disburse Rs 4000 Crore loans to the farmers at three per cent interest during the current fiscal through Cooperative Banks, Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi said today.
Speaking after inaugurating 55th All India Cooperative Week here, he said that the State government had so for provided financial assistance to the farmers to the tune of Rs 22,000 crore.
He said that under Refinance Scheme, the State Government was yet to receive Rs 1784 Crore from the Centre under the waiver of farmer's loan up to Rs 25,000.
He said that to strengthen women economically, the state government was providing loan assistance to Self Help Groups (SHGs) at 4 per cent interest rate, while at 6 per cent interest to Stree Shakti Groups. Over one lakh SHGs have so far saved Rs 160 crore which itself showes not only the cooperative strength but also economic empowerment of women in the state.
