Coop institutions to disburse farm loans
Udupi, Nov 19 (UNI) The Karnataka government has targeted to disburse loans worth Rs 4,000 crore to farmers at three per cent interest during the current fiscal through Cooperative Banks, Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi said today.
Speaking after inaugurating the 55th All India Cooperative Week here, he said the State government has so for provided financial assistance to farmers to the tune of Rs 22,000 crore.
He said under Refinance Scheme, the state government is yet to receive Rs 1,784 Crore from the Centre under the waiver of farmer's loan up to Rs 25,000.
He said to strengthen women economically, the state government is providing loan assistance to Self Help Groups (SHGs) at four per cent interest rate, and at six per cent interest to ''Stree Shakti'' Groups. Over one lakh SHGs have so far saved Rs 160 crore under the scheme.
