New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) The BJP's threat of ''civil war'' and the attempts to ''sabotage'' the investigations into the role of the Sangh Parivar outfits in the acts of terorrism today led the Left parties to state that the "communal party" is throwing the country into a chaotic situation.
The top leaders of the CPI(M), CPI and Forward Bloc said the whole game plan of the BJP is to "influence and threaten" the Anti-Terrorist Squad ( ATS) probing the alleged involvement of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit and others in the Malegaon blasts and the related acts of terrorism.
The Left parties' strong reaction came a day after NDA Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani's demand for change in the probe team on the plea that the ATS is acting in a politically motivated and unprofessional manner and BJP president Rajnath Singh warning about another ''civil war'' in case the government failed to check the terrorist activities.
CPI(M) senior leader Mohammad Salim said the BJP is indulging in a dangerous game plan. ''The word 'Civil war' has been used frequently by Mr Advani earlier also, now his successor Rajnath Singh is using the same tactics. But the Sangh Parivar should not forget that the militant outfits of its own creation and other extremist organisations - all are working as part of the nefarious design to throw this country into chaotic situation where the extremists of all hues have a field day.'' Mr Salim, the party deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, said the whole exercise ''is to create anarchy in the country where they can organise militia in the name of various religious and ethnic identities as is being witnessed in the African countries.'' The CPM leader reminded Mr Singh that ''such a disruptive and divisive design is not possible in the Indian context as our polity, socio, and cultural ethos don't permit it.'' CPI senior leader D Raja contested the BJP president's claim that during the NDA regime terrorist activities were under check. ''The terrorist attack on Parliament, J &K Assembly and Akshardham temple are just some of the examples.'' Mr Raja, party national secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, asked,'' why is the BJP raising a bogey of ''civil war'' at this point when its own outfits are involved in the terrorist activities and some of its activists are under custody for questioning''? The CPI leader maintained that ''the BJP is crying hoarse as their true face of terrorism stood exposed. It is to preempt the investigation. this is clear from Mr Advani's contention.'' Forward Bloc leader G Devarajan said,'' the way the BJP is trying to communalise the whole issue of investigation signalled bad omen for the country's integrity and edifice of rule of law and socio-secular ethos.'' Mr Devrajan said,'' the BJP leadership are up in arms to sabotage the whole process of probe into Malegaon, Samjhauta Express and similar serial blast involving the communal forces.''
