BJP demands President's rule in Bengal
Kolkata, Nov 19 (UNI) The West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded imposition of the President's Rule in the state following the ongoing violence at Lalgarh of West Midnapore district.
'' The CPI(M)-led Left Front government has done nothing for the tribals' welfare and even no developmental work has taken place in the area in their 32-year rule. The ruling party's torture on the adivasis is not a new phenomenon, but the situation at Lalgarh now had drifted beyond control following police excess on the tribal women in the name of arresting the 'Maobadis','' BJP vice-president Sabyasachi Bagchi told newspersons here.
He claimed that no 'Maobadi' group was involved in the incidents, but the dissident CPI(M) activists were creating violences in those areas.
'' The Centre should impose the Article 355 in West Bengal and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee should resign owning moral responsibility for the police atrocities on the tribals, '' he demanded.
He said the BJP Yuva Morcha would demonstrate throughout Jhargram on November 26 against the alleged police atrocities.
