Assam: New trade promotion authority
Guwahati, Nov 19: In keeping with its pursuance of attracting foreign investors and promote industrialization, Assam would soon have a Trade Promotion Authority.
The state Cabinet put its seal of approval on setting up such a special purpose vehicle at a Cabinet meeting last evening, state Commerce and Industries Minister Pradyut Bordoloi informed today.
The Trade Promotion Authority would be constituted on the lines of India Trade Promotion Organisation, which oversees the trade related activities under the Union Commerce ministry, Mr Bordoloi said.
The new Authority will take over the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati, the Border Trade Centres and Sutarkandi, and proposed Border Trade Centre at Dhakuakhana.
