Alleged ISI agent arrested in Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 19 (UNI) The city police today arrested an alleged Inter Services Intelligence(ISI) agent, who had escaped from the Pune police cusody early this year.
Deputy Commissioner of Police(Detective) Javed Shamim said Sayeed Ahmed alias Mohammed Desai, a Pakistani national, had been rounded up by the anti-rowdy section of Kolkata police at Karya market in South Kolkata.
''The man escaped from the custody of Pune police on January 24 this year. He has been booked under various sections of the Foreigners Act and has been remanded in judicial custody till February 24,'' Mr Shamim said.
Ahmed was reportedly planning to sneak into Bangladesh on his way to Pakistan.
Police found him tracking the calls he made from the mobile phone of former Armyman Shailesh Jadhav, who was arrested by the Pune police on February 15 for his alleged links with the ISI.
After his escape from Pune jail, Ahmed reportedly stayed at Jadhav's residence in Satara for a few days.
He then reached Kolkata via Belgaum and Hyderabad, police said.
