Vajra Sappers celebrates raising day
Jalandhar, Nov 18 (UNI) The Sappers of Vajra Corps celebrated their 228th Corps Day here today with fanfare.
The Vajra Sappers executed multifarious tasks in its area of responsibility in last one year. They contributed towards operational preparedness, training for various Combat Engineer tasks, improving of habitat and various aid to Civil Authority tasks including flood relief operations in Punjab and Bihar.
Tracing their roots to the inherited legacy of the Royal Sappers and Miners' of the Pre-Independence era, the rechristened Corps of Engineers of today has enviably emerged as a vital Combat Support Arm of the Indian Army.
A multifaceted force, executing multifarious tasks including Combat, works services, Boarder Roads Organization, Geo Spatial Information System and Aid to Civil Authority, has displayed the ability of being Sarvatra', truly signifying the motto of the Corps.
A Sainik Sammelan was organised on this momentous occasion wherein Brig S M Desai, Chief Engineer, Vajra Corps addressed all ranks of Vajra Sappers. The Chief Engineer appreciated the good work done by the Sappers and also called upon them to continue to be Sarvatra' reflecting the motto of the Corps through their actions.
