Alappuzha, Nov 18 (UNI) In a suspected suicide pact, three second year girl students of the Ambalappuzha Model Higher Secondary School in this district allegedly consumed poison last night due to poor academic performance, police said today.
The bodies of the three girls -- Anila Babu, Juli Varghese and Veni, all 17-year-old, were found in a classroom in the school alongwith some poison and seven letters purportedly written by them, in which they hinted at lack of support for their education.
The girls reportedly wrote that teachers did not give adequate support for their learning, due to which they were lagging behind in studies, causing them anguish.
The three allegedly consumed poison. The bodies were handed over to their relatives after post-mortem at the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital today. The burial will take place this evening.
The three girls reportedly did not return to their homes after school yesterday. On receiving complaints from their parents, the police searched the school and found their bodies in a class room last night.
A woman staying close to the school reportedly told the police that she saw them jumping over a wall into the school compound last evening. On being questioned, they told her that they had come to look for some keys which they had forgotten.
